Robbi Raitt
A pioneer in the ticket brokerage market place, Robbi Raitt began his work as an entrepreneur in Atlanta nearly 15 years ago. He started as a one-man ticket broker, transforming his VW bus into a
licensed mobile-ticket operation for events around the country. Today, the Florida native owns Empire Tickets, one of the top ticket brokerage firms in the country, with 22 full-time employees.
Now he has embarked on a new venture, Orange Hill Art, an art gallery that will help bring folk and outsider art by self-taught artists to the mainstream. As founder of Orange Hill Art, Mr. Raitt leads
the creative direction and overall development of the business. On a daily basis, he oversees art acquisitions, the creation of new exhibitions, marketing and scouting for new talent.
Raitt is committed to pushing the boundaries of art to the outside, in part by creating a venue, which will reflect the duplicity of the outsider mentality in the most sophisticated way. Located in the
former Obelisk Flourmill, this industrial space has been totally transformed, "I wanted to capture the true expressive power and passion of the artists." Raitt explains, "It was critical for the
environment to enhance the raw, vivid emotion that is mixed with the soothing elements of nature in the work and finds such a precarious balance. That is what I want people to feel when they walk into
Orange Hill."
Raitt is dedicated to championing the cause of self-taught artists, improving their working conditions, their living conditions and helping them to be self-sustained. One of the objectives for Orange
Hill is to bring respect to the artists and the art. To help the art and the artists be better understood and to affect and educate a new generation of collectors.
Raitt has been honored as one of GA Trend's 40 under 40 in 2004, he was voted one of Atlanta's top entrepreneurs by Catalyst Magazine in 2004, was profiled as a "Mover and Shaker" by Jezebel Magazine in
2003 and was featured in Succeed Magazine as a top entrepreneur with passion in 2003.
