Orange Hill Art Gallery

Orange Hill Art opened February 10, 2005 with a fresh, organic approach to bringing contemporary folk and outsider art by self-taught artists to the mainstream. The first exhibition, Fresh
Squeezed, will showcase works by some of the world's most complex and gifted folk artists, such as Archie Byron, Lorenzo Scott, Karl Mullen, Butch Anthony, John Henry Toney, James "Buddy" Snipes,
Scott Griffin, Chris Clark, Roger Lee "AB The Flagman" Ivens, Thornton Dial, Sr. and others.
The gallery has been given life by founder, Robbi Raitt, who is committed to pushing the boundaries of the mainstream art world by creating a venue, which will reflect the duplicity of the
artist's mentality in the most sophisticated way. Located in the former Obelisk flourmill, this industrial space has been totally transformed, "I wanted to capture the true expressive power and
passion of the artists." Raitt explains, "It was critical for the environment to enhance the raw, vivid emotion that is mixed with the soothing elements of nature in the art and find such a
precarious balance. That is what I want people to feel when they walk into Orange Hill."
Raitt is also dedicated to championing self-taught artists by improving their working and living conditions and helping them to be self-sustained. One of Orange Hill's objectives is to bring
respect and understanding to the artists and their art, and in turn to reach and educate a new generation of collectors.
Orange Hill Art is an Atlanta-based gallery specializing in folk and self-taught, outsider art from across the globe. The mission of Orange Hill is to create a portal between the "outside" and the
mainstream in art and life. Orange Hill was awarded its first accolade for "Best Presentation" at the Slotin Folk Fest in 2004. The gallery is managed by director Brandi Iryshe and founder Robbi Raitt.
