MARY KLEIN Mary Klein Main < BACK

Mary Klein began creating her sculptural paintings while living in a historic neighborhood in Nashville,Tennesse that was going through a revitalization. Answering an inner calling to pick up cast off architectural elements she began transforming this "trash" into frames for her joyous paintings of seemingly ordinary subjects. Her art work resonates with a powerful expression of hope and beauty. She wants her art to be positive affirmations of life in a world that can sometimes be filled with darkness. After spending ten years in Atlanta, Mary now lives and creates her art in an old shoe factory in Brooklyn, NewYork. Ms. Klein's work has been a popular seller at The Outsider Fair held in New York City for the past eleven years and is also on permeant display in The House Of Blues with locations in major cities through out the US Mary Klein .

Artist Mary Klein creates unique sculptural paintings by combining old architectural objects with her seemingly ordinary subjects, giving new life to these found materials. Mary's subjects are inspired by the natural beauty she finds in her everyday surroundings from memories or from travels in the States and abroad. "I take a pure and simple approach to my art, hoping to evoke a cheerful thought or escape for everyone who sees my work. Sometimes I see things in my head, in my dreams or they emerge once I'm involved in paintings or constructing the materials I paint on. My images include everything from landscapes to still lifes, dogs, fish, and even polar bears, but I've become best known for my paintings of pears."
